Default Fuel pressure question

Hi,
please help me

Today I check my fuel pressure and is ok, but I note a diferent thing.

fuel pressure is 42

question,

do the system mantains the pressure at 42 or drops ?

because I opened the switch and the fuel pressure climbs to 42 but I turn off the engine and the fuel pressure drops completely.

Do this is nomal ?, I believe that not.

let me know your opinion

regards

Your fuel pressure appears to be fine, however, the fuel system should maintain pressure for some time after shutdown. Could be leaky injectors, bad fuel lines, fuel pump. Check the lines first.

Remove filler lid to get to return lines at tank. Pinch off return line and look at gauge. If it stays up regulator is leaking by. If it continues to drop pinch off feed line also. If it stays up pump is bleeding back. If it continues to drop 1 or more injector is leaking. You will probably have to keep turning the key on between these steps to re-pressurize the system. Might need a helper to turn the key on an off while your at the tank.
Hope this helps.
Mine wasn't holding pressure and it turned out to be a groove worn in the seating surface (face)of the regulator. I polished it with 300 grit , cleaned it and put it back in. That did the trick. Autozone sells regulator diaphrams for $22.00 I believe.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your answers

John 89

I already pinch the out line and the pressure continue drops, then I disconnect the return line and plug it with a bolt and clamps and the pressure mantains, then I supose was the regulator
Mantains but after some mins drops a little each time (very little).

Then tomorrow I will bought the regulator and the plenum gaskets

I apprecciate if somebody give the chevrolet part numbers

I will take out the fuel injectors and clean it and test it each by each and I will replace the o rings.

thanks, please help me with the part numbers the guy of the spare parts (chevrolet) is very stupid in the computer and I don´t have the cd or factory manual.
