Default Transmission removal question.

Hey all,

Maybe a stupid question.

Is all the needs to be done in the car is the shifter **** removed to pull the ZF6 down?

It just screws off right?

Thanks all.

If you have the factory **** the shift pattern insert needs to come off and there is a locking slug jamming a keyway once out it spins off, you also need to release the leather boot ( I recommend just removing console top) or have it very free because you also need to release the rubber boot that is bolted transmission tunnel. You can either release at shifter and slide up the shaft or unbolt

Ok thanks for the reply!

Trying to picture what you mean

If I remove the center console top, will it become obvious? I have the stock shifter ****. So it doesn't just screw off? Theres a retainer of some kind?

Thanks again! I appreciate it!

Yes the shift pattern diagram insert slides out of the leather rap, you will see a square aluminum locking wedge hammered into the **** plastic. It requires a very small crows foot or vise grip (be careful when pulling the slug) I once had a helper give a hard tug he put the vise grip into the windshield
