I am running a stock bottom-end '85 L98, and am adding a Vortech 6PSI supercharger and super ram setup..
What kid of plugs should I opt for?
Should I get hotter or cooler plugs? Would AC Delco or Rapidfires be good?
Gimme some insight people..
When I order sparkplugs, do I just say "I want a stage colder than stock"..
Will the counter guy know what I'm talking about, or will he give me the USUAL blank 'Deer in headlights' stare.
:D
If you go to one step colder plug that would be ok but with 6lb. of boost it is not necessary. Just don't use the platinum plugs they will cause detonation.
You need the old style plugs with heavy ground strap. I use AC Rapid fire.
Be sure to never use any fuel other than the best you can buy with a blower detonation is what kills the engine. Also if you have a chip in the ECM remove it before installing the blower. Those advance the timming thats a no- no with forced induction.
:seeya
Pulleys, Coil, Full LPE superram setup (intake/plenum), targa exhaust, roller rockers, Dana44 with 3.45's + the vortech of course.. And I just might put the 8psi pulley on and setupa water injection in the intake.. :D
Let's just say it BETTER hit quite more than 110mph... :jester
By the way I went to Autozone, and asked for AC Delco Rapidfire plugs and asked for a 'colder set'.. The guy tried to look up Cold start valve, GLOW PLUGS and then I told him not to strain his head I'll get a part #...
One thing I have always forced myself to do when tinkering with a new combination: ALWAYS expect LESS e.t. and mph during initial testing. That way you won't flip out when you're missing a mph or two(tuning, spin, conditions) Trust me, it's easier said...but better for your mind. Nothing is worse than let down.
I do wish you the best in it's 1/4 mile performance.
Mine calls out stock for a R43 Champion... and I went 1 range colder to a R42 and they burn very very clean. Not fouled in normal driving... and burn clean under wide open throttle. They are like a buck each too... Would be a cheap trial anyway.... They work great for me.
