Default Manual swapping?!???

I own a 1988 Corvette automatic that I would like to manual swap. I know the right answer is to go out and find a already manual c4. But I don't love c4's I love this particular car. It was my grampa's and when he past away I got it. Earlier today I bought a 1994 Corvette zf6 bluetag complete car. So I should be able to swap the rear differential, clutch pedals, tranny, driveshaft, ext... My main issue is that I don't know what to do about the wiring. My automatic car will only start in park or neutral. And then also does some wiring need to be changed with the gauges? And I guess the main reason that pushed me to do this was that input shaft seal was leaking on my automatic. It's like a 15$ seal but I have to pull the transmission to replace it 😆.might as well go manual then. So anyways I'm 17 and kinda retarded so any help that your able to give will be much appreciated 🙏🏻.

In the manual cars, the "neutral safety" wires are attached to the clutch safety switch - so if you simply reroute the wires from the automatic neutral safety switch over to the clutch safety, that will have the desired effect. You will also need to wire up the reverse light switch on the zf6 from that same connector that's on the automatic shifter. Highly recommend getting yourself a shop manual so that you can look at the wiring diagrams.

The gauge wiring is unchanged.

Buying an entire parts car was definitely a good move for this swap.

You will not regret keeping your Grampa’s car. I can tell you are smart by making that decision and by obtaining an entire donor car for the parts. Hope the intent is for the 1994 to be a parts car if it isn’t already as it would be a lot of work to put it back together as the auto is not correct for that year. You’ll need to graft the tunnel section from the 1994 for the shifter in addition to swapping the rear end, batwing, driveshaft, pedals, etc. you are way ahead on this swap by having another car.

One part that won't swap over is the shift console top. 89 was the only early stye interior to use the zf6. They are almost impossible to find. I had to modify my 86 automatic console top to work with the manual boot.

I've heard people say that the tranny tunnel in early cars will need to be modified slightly to if your putting a 6 speed manual in. But im not sure someone correct me if im wrong. You will also have to get a different center console peice since the auto cars have a more narrow area for the shifter.

Isn't there a big chunk of the tunnel that has to be cut out and replaced to fit the shifter?

I likely would have felt different at 17 but I don't think one could pay me enough to do that swap today, even with a lift and a well appointed shop.
But i wouldn't want an automatic either so, I get it.
