I was wondering if anyone else had problems with this battery. I bought one with the impression that it was a good battery. But it would only keep a charge at 10.4 volts. In the end I ended up getting a interstate battery with no problems
I've run a bunch of them for years, pilot friends use them in aircraft that sit a long time too, no issues. Everyone makes a lemon now and then.
They do have two lines now, the higher end line seems to be what they all were six or eight years ago, the base models are still super heavy
and seem to work fine in the two vehicles I have them in but my oldest one was better made. It was still starting a v8 from the trunk after
eight years but was getting a little weaker on load tests so I swapped it out. Expensive and heavy but good stuff in my experience.
Are you talking about the tiny battery used for motorsports? Yeah, those need to be on a charger if you don't drive every day. Great little batteries but they don't store much of a reserve for the parasitic drain when the car sits.
I think they are all AGM, but they make lots of different sizes. Batteries are expensive enough as it is these days so it chaps my *** to pay so much for them, but they really do seem to last
and are fresh as the proverbial daisy's after sitting a long time. I have two battery-rough vehicles that I keep em in, one has a trunk mounted battery and a long cable run to the engine and
the other is a diesel that puts a pretty serious load on a battery before ever cranking from the glow plugs heating up, regular batteries have never done well in either despite everything being
clean and well grounded. Completely possible for someone to get a bad one though, and you technically need a charger/charging system that can handle an AGM battery. My 96 LT1 with
the optional high amp alternator seems fine with it and so does an 80's VW but I do put them both on the regular battery charger once every couple months just on principle. Most modern
chargers will have an AGM setting. I put a wallmart battery in the Corvette. :P
