Default Antenna relay help!

Hi all. The antenna on my ‘91 convertible is stuck in the “up” position. If i muscle it back down it will come up again when i turn the car back on and I can hear the motor going. I don’t think I can hear the motor going when I turn off the car, however.

I don’t use the antenna and would rather it just stay down forever. The problem is when I look at the wiring back there, it’s a mess and likely been re-done several times by the POs for the stereo.

I don’t see a relay but I do see 2 pink wires, both appear to be looped and taped to themselves, so I don’t see how they would be contributing anything to my issue, but i know the pink wires is supposed to be antenna motor power. There is also a plug. Would snipping one of these pink wires solve my problem?

What a mess! Thanks!!

Cut the wires in the LR under car going to the motor and push the antenna down. You may blow the CTSY fuse cutting the wires if you don't remove it first. Leave enough distance on each side of the cut so that you or someone else in the car's future will be able to splice the wires to restore operation, if desired.

Unscrew the relay from the car, remove the cover, find some 1000 grit sand paper, sand the contacts, re assemble and install (relay has been discontinued)

Above the muffler. Behind the wheel well, ahead of the bumper. Straight down from the hole in the fender the antenna comes out of. Leave the tail lights alone.
