Default Power seat control

Hello,
I just got a 96 Grand Sport. I love it!
the power seat control isn’t working. I was hoping to get some advice. The lumbar and bolster controls work. The seat goes up and down. I think the seat is all the way back. When I try and move it forward I can hear a click but the seat doesn’t move. Driver or passenger. I’m thinking it’s the controller? I’m having trouble finding a new one or even a nice used one. Any ideas? Thank you!

You're seat transmission is probably stripped at a point, now Not saying that this will work for you but I it did in my 81 & 95 not being in the seat first lube the tracks give them a fighting chance. Like said not in the seat give it a suggested direction of travel and push button if it works your happy until you can do the right thing and repair or replace

I agree, lube the rails, it won't hurt and will always help!

From my experience with those rails, the first thing I would be checking is the switch. If the gears were stripped, they do more than just click... they make grinding sounds are sound real tragic. Since it is both seats, I would suspect the switch. There is no "controller" for the seats.

When say a bad switch, it is the one on the left of the console. The right switch merely controls which seat is being operated, and since BOTH front seats are not moving fore/aft, then I believe the actual seat control switch is broken.

What you can also do, remove the seat bottom and use a circuit tester, something like this:

Amazon Amazon

They will complete the circuit and will allow the motor to function without the switch. Pretty clever tool.

I found a site called carrolcorvette.com and they have some. Also, check with vette2vette.com, Jason runs a great shop! Dino's Corvette Salvage is good, too.

Thanks. That’s good advice. I took everything apart. I’ll lube the track and get that tool to check. I think it’s the switch since the selector for driver passenger works and all the other lumbar buttons work. I’m having trouble finding the part. I’ll check this sites you listed. Thanks again!

I've got a '94 with base model power seats, and the driver seat was iffy to move forward (had to play with the switch just right, but once moving it worked fine, and no problem making it go back), but now, not able to get it to go forward. With my one of my sons being significantly shorter than me, and needing to reach the clutch properly, I want to get it working reliably again. I'm suspecting the switch, based on the behavior. In my case, there's a similar switch on both sides (and from seeing a picture of the underside, it looks like the PCBs underneath are exactly the same), so I was initially thinking of using the insides of the passenger switch on the driver side, since I don't care if the passenger seat can move forward anymore.. but, I found a passenger side switch online, so instead, I can leave my passenger seat alone and functional, and use parts from the purchased one.
Not sure 02z06tr could use a passenger switch as well? (I believe there were others on eBay, passenger sides likely gets less use)
I'm wondering if anyone has pointers for getting that switch out of the console so I can play with it (at first I was also wondering about fixing what appears to be a faulty contact for moving forward)
02z06tr, do you have pictures of yours taken appart?

thanks. I got it apart but I didn’t get it all the way out. The wires are tight. I’ll work on it and send some pics. I bought this tool as recommended above by Bogus, I’ll have to figure out how it works but he said I could complete the circuit essentially bypass the switch and see if the seat moves. If so I’ll know I need a switch. Using a passenger switch is a good idea as there are no drivers side ones anywhere that I can find. I’ll be going Corvettes at Carlisle in couple weeks and I’ll be looking for one there. Thanks for all the good advice!

I got it this far out. I’m not sure what to do next? How do I bypass the switch to see if the seat moves? If I find a replacement switch I’ll have to dig deeper into how to get this all the way out. I may be in over my head.

I was starting to open up the replacement, for the passenger side, and the part that I got to seemed factory sealed.. I was hoping to swap out the switch and not have to solder a whole wire bundle.. then something happened with another car and had to get the Vette out of the middle of the 2- car garage... so I just closed it all back up for now.. here's a picture of what's inside the black box.
