Default 92 manual to auto swap

Hi everyone. I recently purchase a 92 convertable that a previous owner had removed the zf6, cbeam and rear diff. I was able to source a complete drive train from a 92 LT1 Auto, including tunnel, computer, wiring harness, cbeam and rear diff. I have everything installed and running, the problem I am having is related to the shifter. The auto shifer has a switch attached to it that supposedly lets the ECM know when the car is shifted out of park, I was told it lets the ECM know to start advancing timing when needed. I also have the issue of no reverse lights. The manual car does not have the wiring necessary to hook up the switch. I am wondering if anyone on this forum has a suggestion on how to procede. Thank you for any info shared. Ron

I believe you're referencing maybe the shift lock solenoid that was never serviced. For reverse lamps you should be able to correct that at the neutral safety switch mounted on the shifter. 6 wire connector maybe?
Do you have the FSM?
Here's a very old thread regarding shift lock solenoid and eliminating it. If any of the snapshots in that thread look familiar post back mentioning that and I'm sure you can be helped.

You've corrected tunnel opening and have a correct AT console, shifter etc. all installed?

Thank you for the reply, The manual car doesn't come with the shift lock solenoid, so I didn't have to elimnate it, but I did have to jumper the clutch safety switch. The switch that I am having trouble with is the one on the shifter, the manual car's dash/body wiring harness doesn't come with the necessary wires to connect it. I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with this problem. I know most swaps are from auto to manual.

Do you have the six terminal connector to the neutral safety switch? Is this the connector you're mentioning in your original post? I thought maybe you had an auto shifter and the park lock solenoid was maybe included.

If you have the FSM you should be able to sort and route wires to the appropriate harness connections to put it to original configuration. Reverse lamp wire on that connector should be colored LT GRN probably terminal D. Using the FSM(Factory/Field Service Manual) and various diagrams it should be pretty straight forward how to route and terminate wires. There's many options that would require sorting for your car.

Was an engine harness included with your purchase? It could be quite a challenge but solvable I'd think if you have and understand the FSM and various components. Do you have the FSM?

It cranks and runs? What did you do about the park lock cable that locks the column?

8A-112-0 should square you away on the reverse lighting. Much depends on how well you understand the FSM and the car connections.

** I didn't recall your other post regarding this car but looking back there were questions I asked in that thread that still haven't been answered.

There are 3 circuits in the automatic shifter switch. Park/Neutral Safety, P or N for the ECM, and back up lights.

Prk Neutral Safety: Terminals E and F on the shifter switch. You can run wires to the two wires that were at the clutch safety switch.

ECM P or N: Terminals A and B on the shifter switch. A goes to chassis ground. B goes to Cavity N in C237. C237 is under the RH dash, 23 cavity. It is an orn/blk wire and is probably only present on the engine side of the C237. Run a wire from C237 N to B on the shifter switch.

Back up lights: Terminals C and D in the shifter switch. Dark blue in Cavity N C237 (Inst panel side, not the engine side) goes to terminal C on the switch. Lt Green in Cavity D in C239 (Inst Panel side, not the engine side) goes to terminal D on the switch. C239 is a blue 10-cavity connector in the same location as C239.

Your automatic engine harness shouldn't have the lt green, or dk blue wires in C237/C239. But these wires will be in the connector on the Inst Panel side. The orn/blk wire will be on the engine side of C237, but not on the IP side. Run wires as appropriate..

WVZR-1 and IHBD, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, It's been a busy couple of days, I've been replacing exhaust manifolds on a F250. Thank you for the replies and great information. I don't have a FSM yet, I will be trying to add the wires like instructed this weekend. I will let you know how it works out, Thanks so much.
