I'm considering installing a new top on my '87 and asking for any help deciding on a brand and a video. It's showing it's age. It works fine but the threads are starting to let go. I'm hoping someone in this group has done this before. I've seen several brands but not sure which ones are good or bad. I've also seen some videos available from different companies. Any comments and/or suggestions appreciated.

I'd consider buying a '94+ top and getting the glass rear vision.
I'd try to buy top complete with frame from someone that would allow you to maybe remove it yourself.
www.car-part.com if you want to consider and search maybe locally. Someone posted recently doing it in this fashion.
Just an FYI ... I recently searched Car-Parts Southeast U.S. and found several complete soft roofs available, most with canvas in poor condition, most over $1500 plus shipping. Add to that the cost of a new top with glass at $800-$1000 plus and I decided that unless I find a local car being parted out, I will pass on glass.
I would be interested in a newer model top but I haven't been able to locate one locally and since the price of one plus shipping is a bit out of my budget. I don't mind a vinyl rear window and realize there is an upgrade kit to use on my existing top. I was planning on replacing the top myself and was curious if anyone had done this, viewed the installation videos or maybe has one for sale. Thanks for your reply.
