Recently posted about the new clutch in my 85-model going out. I did a complete flush and bled it with my pressure bleeder and that seemed to resolve the issue. After straightening up some wires and stuff I put it back on the ground and now the clutch is not working again. Do you guys think a replacement of the master, slave cylinder and the hydraulic hose would remedy this issue? It all appears to be original. Just to clarify I cannot move the shifter at all with the engine running but the car will pull off as it should in 1st and reverse, just cannot shift with it running. The clutch and transmission worked great for the first few test drives but out of the blue started having this issue.
TIA
First, replace that rubber line. It's almost certainly disintegrating internally. Second, pull the slave off the bell housing and hold it at a 45deg angle with the bleeder up. Push the piston all the way in and let it gravity bleed for a couple minutes. It's almost impossible to get all the air out with it bolted in place, even with a pressure bleeder. This is also in the service manual.
Make sure you check to see that hose is clear before installing. I bought one for my car and installed it and it turned out that it was internally blocked. The package said it was made in 2022, but the rubber hose had a stamped date of 2012 on it.
interesting. id forgotten about the toughbto find 4+3 clutch libe. what i did was take the assembly to a hydraulic shop. they will cut out the rubber lines, and re-crimp on new rubber section. worked great.
worked so well i took my zr-1 oil cooler lines did the same thing.
I did all 3 parts on my 95 recently, and got the hose for Corvette Central, had to wait awhile for their vendor to make it. It is all braded SS, it was over $100, more than the S&M together (not that kind...ha).
Unfortunately I could not get mine bled enough to work, so will have it towed to a shop. It was a PIA changing all these out. Bench bleed them first, I didn't do that.
Well, I replaced the clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder and hydraulic line. bench bled the master cylinder prior to installing it. I used my pressure (vacuum) bleeder and as of now the clutch seems to be working correctly. I can start the car and go through all gears including reverse without grinding. I am taking it off the blocks this weekend and see how it does while driving.
Thanks to all for the advised and suggestions.
