4+3 noise
There is a manufacturers page as well, sliversport transmissions I believe it is.
It's probably worth spending the money for the upgrade on a decent car for the improvement I suspect this trans brings. The 4+3 really is fairly uninspiring all in all.
I've had mine three or four months and while I still don't have any interest in an automatic, I'm not going to be able to live with this thing forever. It's okay-enough if you're
rowing through the gears casually but if you're actually trying to use the thing with any degree of finesse, between it and the clutch it's not great. I've driven worse but
they were mostly multi ton agriculturally focused vehicles.
Fast forward to 7:50 if all you want to see is the carrier bearing. The whole video is pretty good, but a novice may have to watch it a bunch of times before you get an understanding of how it functions.
Pay attention to what he says about "the most common failure" and what a carrier bearing failure can do to hard parts like the carrier, piston and front cover. This transmission went out of production almost 40 years ago. The OEM replacement parts supply was exhausted decades ago. You are going to go nuts attempting to source non-existent replacement parts for an obsolete transmission in Italy. Again, just say NO!
I can't believe you are still contemplating buying a car with the most common KNOWN problem in the overdrive already present. Just say NO. Find another car, or get the seller to give it to you for free because a replacement aftermarket transmission with shipping and duty from The States and its installation is going to cost more than the car is probably worth.
Hi... The problem of "my" car is this bearing ok?? In the video is explain perfectly what happen driving the car. Now my question is: this bearing is out of stock? When the bearing produce noise what damage? Also the "support" in the right hand in the picture? Nobody know the measure of the bearing? It's very strange that nobody produce this bearing...probably don't have standard measure?
They seem to claim this is that bearing. I would still be interested in getting the dimensions and part number and trying to source one myself.
There are very few bearings that cannot be found unless they are complete bastards of a size. Even at that one may well find something close enough and have
the carrier machined to fit it or an adaptor made or such. Not inventing the wheel, it's just a bearing after all eh?

Even if this is a source of the bearing, you have to recognize the problem and stop driving the car before it chaws into the cover.
I bought a full OD setup and cannibalized the bearing and cover to make mine whole again.
Believe me, unless you want to hate C4 Corvettes forever, do not buy this car. It’s not worth it.
It's a ridiculous system for a "performance" car. You do get the better rear diff and a bit easier path to upgrading to a better trans. There really is not a good
factory manual solution for a C4 corvette today and it's likely to get worse as time goes on. Budget for a TKX or whatever would be my advice to anyone wanting to row
their own gears in a C4. The later 6spd cars are somewhat better options but they are ate up with their own issues. I wouldn't buy either again.
They are both still better than an automatic. :P
Problem solved...the car has been sold...I'm not the buyer...I offer 5000 euros, but an other person win the battle for 8500 euros...I'm sad, for that money I think was a good choice...
Thanks at all for the suggestions, I have learned other things on C4 world
