Can EGR & Cold start ejector be deleted from an 85 chip?
I am bulidng a new motor and will likely upgrade my ECM to the 86-89 ecm, but I would like to get my new 406 motor in and running before I take on the pinout and ecm swap.
Can I have a temporary chip made to eliminate the EGR and Cold Start injector?
The new motor will have a MINIRAM intake and 2151 Hooker headers.
TIA!

To disable EGR, set EGR flag = false and minimum MAT to enable EGR = the highest reading possible - 1.
CSV is a matter of disconnecting the thermal switch in the front of the engine. CSV is not controlled by the ECM. If you disconnect it, there will be a fair amount of tinkering with the startup enrichment I would assume, assuming you are at a low enough operating temp that CSV would be used in the first place. Good Luck, -Matt

Once I go to the the 165 ECM how does it deal with the CSV issues since it does not have one?

You use a PROM with a BIN (program) loaded on it from an '89. In 1989, they ditched the CSV but still used the '165.

Correct. Your computer can run any of the PROMs from 1986-1989. Using the 1989 one will give you the enrichment during starting w/o the need for a CSV.

This feature has been introduced into the $32b 87/88 code thanks to Tunercat. So you can use that one too. Much more handy if you have a 4+3 so you do not lose O/D features.

So let me get this straight...I can put an EProm in my 85 from an 89 and it will still work without too much effort? Weren't emissions standards different in 86-7-8-9?

ID85 is talking about after he changes his ECM to a 165 unit (used in 86 thru 89). the ECM swap takes some wiring changes (there are some home pages out there on this swap).
