Corvette electrical drain
So I bought a 1984 corvette as a project car recently. The car is in mid condition at best but still runs strong (when it runs). My current problem is that I have a massive electrical drain though. I've narrowed it down to one of four wires connected on the starter solenoid's positive terminal. I am sure it is not the starter since the drain appears and disappears when the wires are connected or disconnected without touching the starter. I'm unsure how many amps of a drain it is but I know its above 150mA and drains the battery voltage visibly. (also some mild sparking when connecting the negative while the positive is connected.) Of the four wires the drain could be coming from, I can only trace one which goes to the alternator. *I have confirmed that the alternator is not the source of the problem. This is my first problem.
There is a second though. The "Security" light is lit on my console and the car no longer starts. (it never failed to start easily before so long as the battery was full.) I'm getting crank but no start. I believe I have spark, so I am led to believe that I am not getting gas. This seems to be a problem that the security system can have when broken. It is also worth noting that my doors seem to be flooding and have evidence of being flooded before as well. However the "no start" problem occurred before the flooding. It also seems worth noting that while I can still technically turn the key in the door and the power locks actuate, the car does not lock (and I'm not tempted to really try to for fear of not being able to unlock it
). If anyone can give me insight into either
1. Where those live wires go and what they connect to?
2. how to disarm the security system?
or
3. How these two problems could be related?
Then I would be very grateful.
Thank you so much,
Janaph
P.S. let me know if I can upload any pics to help you help me
