Is the tail shaft of the 700r4 unique to the corvette for the C-torque bar?
I don't know this as a fact, but if you're looking to buy a transmission and this is a determining factor, I'll say that I read in one of my posts somewhere, that someone said this was the case. So hopefully someone else chimes in and corrects me or confirms this is the case.
My factory 700r4 output shaft looked like it was cut with a sawzall. But yes they are a little shorter. If you buy a non c4 700r4 I would try it anyway. If the driveshaft doesn't fit then just cut it until it does.
I suppose if you needed a transmission and you had a 700r4 laying around that wasn't from a c4 you could just swap the output shaft. It isn't that hard. Just time consuming.
One thing I will point out though, back when I 4L60e swapped my 84 I was able to use the factory driveshaft. I didn't need to cut the shaft on the transmission at all. Now I'm not sure if there are any overall length differences between the 700r4 and the 4L60e. But I would try the slightly longer non c4 700r4 and just see it it fit before I tried tracking down c4 specific parts.
