1988 C4 OD switch relocation
Just bought a 1988 C4 with the Doug Nash manual trans.
I have a couple questions
1) I need fo relocate the push-button overdrive switch that in connected to the shifter. Has anyone done this before? I'm think its as simple as splicing into the wires and connecting them to a push bottom switch...?
2) All the power systems in both seat work except for the air bladders in both seats, is there a relay or fuse specifically for the air bladder motors?
Thanks for any input

The diaphragms in the pumps have probably disintegrated, and the little 'connecting rod' gets jammed and the motor won't run. Remove the pump assembly to your bench. Remove the the 4 screws on the end plate. A close inspection will reveal where the problem is. Be sure the motor runs. You can fabricate new diaphragms from the finger tips of nitryl gloves. The cheapo disposable latex gloves aren't durable enough. It's not too fussy. There are little check-valve flaps for each hose. Check that these are functioning. They allow pressure to enter the hose, but do not allow pressure to flow back into the pump cavity.
The bladders in the seat backs disintentigrated to crumbs probably 25-30 years ago. They may have already been replaced. There is a source for replacement bladders. If interested, I'll send you the contact info via PM. The seat back upholstery comes out of the shell with 4 clips. A little fussy, there are probably youtubes that show how. If you have a hand air pump (like for a basket ball) you can test the bladder integrity.
The last thing that could be wrong are the 3-button valve assemblies. They crack, break, and leak. (I think peeps push down on the seat controls for support to get in and out of the car, this cracks the bezels and busts the valve assemblies.) AFAIK there are no replacement parts available for the button-valves. I repaired one (only 1 of the 3was cracked and leaking) with JB weld. It worked well enough to pass an NCRS PV.
The 84-93 Sport Seat bladders are fussy as heck to get working correctly. Just getting the button assemblies out of the seats is fussy. Have fun.
They dont make replacement shift ***** for the 85-89 manual shifters anymore.
Thanks for all the seat info! I will be looking into everything you mentioned.

The little horizontal 'pins' alongside the lock wedge are what the button clips to and pivots on.
The hole is for the rod that actuates the switch. You can kind of see the pins on each side of the wedge hole. Shift ***** for 84, early 85 and 6-speed cars do not have these features.
