I want to do a egr delete on my 1984 auto as I really dont want it. Im in an emmissions free state and I dont like the look of it on my engine. What should I do with the computer? I cant get my hands on an elf flash II bc they're out of stock. Any advice?
I kept the EGR valve on my '84 because it was easy to replace. My understanding is that it helps keep combustion chamber temps lower at partial throttle but stays closed at idle and WOT. It also keeps Nox levels lower if you are inclined to reduce smog levels in your neighborhood. It also keeps the original appearance if resale later on is important.
A new EGR valve and CTS sensor has worked wonders at keeping mine running well. I was having idle and throttle tip in issues that are now gone.
Another forum member confirmed this was the original valve from 1983 build date. I could barely move it by hand.

ive been considering that too, I appreciate that advice! And thats pretty sweet to have the original!
If you put on a block off plate I think it will run fine, you will just have a Check Engine Light.
It is kind of a pain to get on and off, can improve gas mileage and does not hurt performance at all (if working properly), but there are no real downsides to removing it either other than the pain and light.
