i'm trying to find a good nitrous kit for my 88. it's pretty much stock. i got new plugs and wires for it and a vortex filter. i don'tknow squat about nitrous. well, a little bit. what would be the best kit to get? it's an automatic, can you even put nitrous on those? maybe a progressive system? if anyone can help...
If I was you I would read a lot more about nitrous before getting it. Nitrous works better on an automatic. Nitrous can only be turned on at full throttle. You will have to mount a switch to you throttle body that tells the system when you are at full throttle. In an automatic you don't need to take your foot off the gas like you do in a stick. Thats why more people with sticks opt for superchargers/turbos. Not saying you can't run nitrous on a stick it just works much better on an auto. Everyone that uses nitrous will tell you there favorate brand. In truth they are all about the same. All use similar bottles and lines. The big difference comes down to the quality of the solenoids. NOS for example are mostly plastic and cheap. Nitrous works is for the most part the same way. From what I have heard Nitrous express is a little better. I use an NOS kit with stainless steel solenoids from Dyno tune I got them from http://www.speedshop.org Also do you want to run a dry or a wet system? I would strongly sugest a wet system. I don't want to get into a debate with anyone about what is better but I have personaly seen 3 engines have something burn up in them because of dry systems. I have run wet for years and never had a problem. Other friends I have that run wet also have never had problems. Hope this helps.
Are you wanting just a tpi plate or the whole system that comes with a tpi plate? If you are just looking for the plate go with Compucar for $131. The NOS plates are $250 just for the plate!! The entire TPI nitrous system from NOS is arround $500
Yeah, Get a wet system, just do a little homework so you understand the risks. That way you will invest in parts that minimize each. I.e, MSD Box(spark retard), window switch, fuel cutoff switch. A bottle heater for better performance et cetera (etc...)
Hey Chris, Can you tell me more about why you think NX is one of the better systems?
I am looking at adding a 200 shot, direct port. I was thinking about buying 2 fogger kits because I wanted to run 8 solenoids, doubleing up on all of them for saftey reasons.
I want to make sure i dont make a mistake getting crappy stuff.

I looked at those afte you posted about it. how do they compare to the NX solenoids?
I notice the NX noids claim they can be ran open for the entire bottle full.
I read somewhere that the NOS brand noids can only be left open for 30 seconds or failure can occur.
Any word on the speed shops noids?
Also, I only saw N2O solenoids in the page, do those same noids flow fuel?
They do sell seperate fuel solenoids. I think there site my be under construction. A lot of stuff isn't listed yet. I would give them a call. The reason you can't use a nitrous system for a long period of time straght is because the solenoids heat up. NOS makes there noids out of plastic. They will melt. Dyno tune makes theres out of stainless steel. They can take a lot more heat. I have never seen an NX solenoid so I can't tell you about them. I do know they are very expensive. Also the bigger size noid you use the longer you can use it without problems. As far as NOS being able to run to 30 seconds thats a bunch of crap. after about 15 mine died. On the other hand with dyno tune I can run from 900psi all the way to 600psi nitrous and the noids will take it.
