Annyone with a top-end job ( cam, heads exhaust ) that used Ed Wright custom chip, could you tell me if you needed alot of after tuning done to the chip? Or whas it OK from the start?

See my sig below for the mods.
Ed did a great job on my custom chip on the first try. While it's not perfect, he came very close (need a little more work at idle). I just got the chip before mother earth pounded us with winter, so I'll be contacting Ed in the Spring to try and make some adjustments after putting her on the dyno.
Overall, Ed runs a great operation. I was very happy with the level of support that they gave with my order.

Ed did a great job on my '92. I have a Crane cam, AFR heads, and Crower Roller Rockers.
First, I went to someone else -- the WOT on that chip was fine. But, the idle was way too rich. Then, I got Ed to make me a custom chip, and I have been very happy with it.
However, since no two vehicles are "exactly" the same, the only way to achieve close to perfection is to have your vehicle tuned on a dyno.
That been said, Ed is the best of any of them. There may be some others that can do it too, but I haven't used them. I do know one that can't.
I need one myself...I have heard alot of good things about him...One buddy of mine Had a SuperCharged 385 in His Vette and gained 80 HP after the chip and tuning.
Most likely the chip won’t be 100% the first time, right?
So I take the car to a Dyno run, and then what? Do I send the chip back to Ed together with the results from the Dyno or can I do the final tuning myself?
Forgive me for being stupid. I have a Hypertech chip now, I guess that says it all....

The best way (in my opinion, the only way) is to have Ed do it on his Dyno -- your chip or programming is for your machine only.
However, this wasn't possible for me. Ed has programming he has done on almost all combinations. He can make you a chip or program your computer that is going to be very close from his inventory -- for a modified vehicle, it will certainly be much better than stock programming.
I have one in my car and think he did a decent job the first time out. Mine runs rich but does idle pretty decent. After my gears are installed, I am going to have a local guy that MORE Performance uses for their chips to cut me one on the dyno.
See mods - My car has 2000 miles on the rebuild and is running OK. At first I was worried but it setteled down after some miles. I had rebuilt the transmission just prior to the engine and the transmission needed some fine tuning. The only slight problem I am having is that the engine does not idle down when first putting into park. It revs up to 1500, if I step on it it comes down or if I wait it will come down in a few minutes. Other than that I am happy with Ed. If it bothers me too much I am close enough to go to Tulsa for a fine tunning. It may be worth the trip even though it is in Oklahoma..
Have heard nothing but good about the man, and his work.
I would have gone to him for a chip myself, but I was so 'into' purchasing TPiS parts...that I had them do me a chip too.
I'm not sorry for this...no way...TPiS has been very good to work with.
However, from what I've read the past few years, since becomming a Forum Member...you can't go wrong with an Ed Wright chip.

It is a little bit too long to travel by car though.. :jester I live in Sweden and I guess the Ed doesn't :D
Jag antar det. Blir inget trim alls för min del. Ska du till Taxinge slott på vårmönstringen?
Sorry for writing in swedish... It is a big language, you should learn it. It is spoken by 9 million people.. :D
Turbocenter in stockholm can do a chip for ya. They use a wideband 02 and a romulator. On a dyno..
Ok, Do I talk to Cleas or anybody else there? Are they any good with N/A cars?
Othervise I would look in to unichip. I saw a car at "muscel cars" in Södertälje. A vette 90 cab with hot cam heads etc that had a unchip box piggyback on the stock ECU! So i looked that up. Unchip use a special box to piggyback on the stock ecu witch enabels you to tune the fuel and spark curves in realtime. They charge around $470 for a box including a full dyno tuning! And the nice thing is that if you make a change on the car you can uppdate the chip realtime.
I would highly recommend Ed Wright Chip. My car was running rich after the hot cam and first Ed wright chip. I put the car on a dyno and sent fastchip the air fuel numbers, and had a new chip in days - at no charge. My Air fuel is perfect now, and I Picked up approximately 20 RWHP over the first custom chip, with the new reprogram. Lately, I have been having some unrelated electrical problems, and I emailed fastchip with a question. They offered to send me a new chip- no charge, If I felt I needed it. My problem appears to be solved and was not related to the chip, but I sure appreciated the offer.
