A couple of weeks ago I bought a 1995, and my high beam indicator light is on whenever I use my headlights, even when I'm am not using high beam. Everything else is fine (blinkers, etc.) Sometimes I can turn on the headlights and it is normal - no high beam indicator, and then after a few minutes the indicator comes on. It just started doing this. What do I need to do to fix this?
It would appear that your indicator lamp is being activated by a short, either at the switch or in the instrument cluster. No fixes are easy. Congrats on your purchase.
For this and future problems (there will be some), it is highly recommended that you purchase a manual for your vette. They are available from numerous sources, including this forum, Ebay, factoryautomanualsdirect, etc..........
check to make sure all of your lights are still functioning properly. Mine started to do this when my drivers side bright went out, although the low beam worked good, and i didnt notice it was out until i put on the brights against a truck tailgate....
One of your headlamps has a poor, intermittent ground wire and when it goes open circuit, 12v will conduct across the 2 headlamp filaments to the high beam indicator. If you will stop when this happens and look at your headlights, you will find which headlamp has the bad ground because it will not be lit.
