My 90 automatic has a horrible dead spot between the light throttle and half throttle once past have throttle it picks up and runs fine full throttle good power just be dead spot for normal driving is extremely annoying! Any thoughts as to what this could be I understand the 90 does not have a mass air flow making it a little trickier too tune I have heard? no misfires on pull just that dead spot where it just be pushed the throttle and it does not accelerate until you get way down in it.... Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice
Monitoring the fuel pressure is good advice and make sure the fuel tank is full.
But if this problem is directly correlated to throttle position, it could certainly be a problem with the throttle position sensor. A good quality TPS is cheap enough on RockAuto and easy to replace.
If you have the ability to datalog with a laptop, TunerproRT (free) and an ALDL cable $85ish. You'll be able to read realtime data from the throttle position sensor. And all the other sensors as well. A setup like this is indispensable for troubleshooting engine performance problems related to sensors.
Thanks to everyone for the responses and advice I will throw a TPS sensor on it just in case I do not have the Tuner pro but I would like more information on it if possible.. Could use it on my 05 Corvette?
Drove it this morning about 8 or 9 miles got it up to reasonable temperature and it ran absolutely perfect so now it's driving me crazy but I will tear into it thanks again
