I normally do my oil change by lifting up on side, put jack stands under and the same on the other side. There’s has to be an easier way, are there any ramps that will bring the car high enough to get under and perform the service? (an)
On my ZR-1, I use an aluminum hot water heater pan to catch the oil. I plugged the one hole on the side of the pan before using. Makes for a very low profile drain pan. Then I just break the drain plug loose, slide the pan under, and take the bolt out. Holds close to 9 or 10 quarts that drain out, and it’s strong enough to be picked up and then dump into a jug to bring to the recycler.
No need to jack the car up, just be on a flat, level surface. Also works for draining any other fluid out of the car without needing to jack it up or put on stands.
I dunno,,,, a 3 ton jack and sticking a couple of jack stands under the car is pretty darn easy..... I just sit the stands under the car at the appropriate spots as a fail safe for the actual jack.... My jack lifts the car probably 18-20" which is more than enough...
Think I'll stick with just driving up onto the regular ramps. Especially versus $515 for those things that you still have to jack up on all four wheels anyway.
I've had this 20 years. Bought the hoist used from my neighbor for the $1,500 that he was in it as payment on a debt. A few years later I paid the guys doing the addition next door another $1,500 to throw the hose over the wall and pump the slab. I've done a lot of transmission and T-case R&R over my years of involvement with Syclones and Typhoons. Not only is it convenient, (just drive on and push the button), but once it is up and confirmed that the locks are in place, it is safe.
When not in actual use, I park a car on it. I don't have to put quick-jacks away, store race ramps, or work on my back with the car 18" above me with the ramps or q-jacks in the way.
