Been working on my 1984 that is running rich and its got me stumped.
I have been doing some research on why the car is running rich and found that it can be the TPS not adjusted properly.
I have seen numerous places that across the top two leads to the TPS you should get 0.54 volts.
So as you can see in the picture I stuck two pieces of paper clip in the back of the TPS and I am getting 4.8 to 4.9 volts key on engine off. What the heck??
Am I doing the test wrong is or something else way off?
(I assume my volt meter is fine. It reads 12.9v on the battery and 1.2 on a random AA battery I found lying around as well as proper ohms on some resistors I have.
Make sure the multi-meter isnt auto ranging or on a wrong range setting and giving you a reading that looks off. If that checks out, verify the pins you have are correct and the throttle is in fact fully closed. If none of the above are out of the norm, then I would say it looks like your sensor is reading bad.
EDIT: Just noticed you are checking PINS B and C. Should be checking PINS A and B I believe
