New to the forum. Got a C4 87 vette and I want to put C6 wheels.and tires. Which wheel spaces would I need?

I used Amazon specials. 1" for the front and 1.5" for the rear.

You can probably use the sizes marshallnoise mentioned, but 1.75" in the back will probably be a little better. I assume we're talking about base-model wheels? 18x8.5 et56 front and 19x10 et79 rear? Because the fatter Z06 wheels aren't really going to work at all.

What tire sizes do you plan to run? The stock 245/40/18 tires on C6 fronts should work fine on a C4. The stock 285/35/19 will be too tall for proper C4 fitment. You'd really want 285/30/19 instead.

The C6 wide body (ZR1 Z06 GS) front wheels should fit the early C4 like your 1987 fine all around. If you can see my avatar, those are C6 wide body spec 18" front wheels installed in all 4 positions on the 1986.

The C6 narrow body wheels would be better suited for 1988+ rather than the 1987, same as the C5 fitment, and on the 1987 perhaps you would only want those for looks and not what I would call proper fitment having to use substantial spacers. But I see it done all the time.

Yes, let me clarify that I was referring specifically to the 19x12 rear wheels. I am ***-uming that the OP is talking about buying an entire set of staggered C6 wheels, because that's what 99% of people do when they want to add later-gen wheels to a C4. But that might not be the case. I agree that a set of four front widebody C6 wheels (18x9.5 or 19x10, both et40) would work well on early C4s, and even the OE C6-widebody tire sizes will work well.

Great info in here. I am running C6 base spec wheels and they have 305s in the back. Could probably do a 315 without much issue.

305/30/19 is really too wide for 10" rim width: although you can mount most 305s on them (good luck with a Bridgestone RE71RS though), they won't work great. At 26.2" tall, they are also on the verge of being too tall for a C4. Tire manufacturer's rim width recs for this size are 10.5-11.5. 315/30/19 would be an even worse fit for 10" rim width, and at 26.6" diameter, it's too tall to work well on a C4. I recommend against that.

Probably depends on what you are doing with the car too. I am not turning corners with it but plan on going in a straight line and cruising on the streets.
