Chime buzzer activates while lights on + driving
Hi everyone !
Recently, I did various jobs on my 86.
Especially electricity, because many things were missing or out of service.
My chime had a wire cut deliberately. I imagined that the previous owner no longer wanted this function.
I rewired it with the help of the GM manual. Everything seemed to work, quick ringing.
But when I tested the ride, the chime activated by turning on the headlights... while driving!
The interior lighting turns off well after closing the entrances. But maybe the signal from the doors isn’t getting through to the chime ?
Or rather from the contact switch, because at a standstill, there is a slow ringing when the key is in the contactor with the door open, but when I press the key a little (without turning it), the beep stops. Anyway, it’s not very precise.
I tried to shake the key while driving, but nothing changes.
Have you ever had this problem while driving ?
If it comes from the contact switch, I imagine it can be repaired, to open and reset the contacts...
Thank you
All the input signals were good and switched perfectly at the right time.
(lights/ON/power...).
I also had, at the same time, a problem with the seat belt indicator that would briefly turn on when the keys were first pressed: 2 strokes in a row, and it never turned on.
I deduced that the chime panel was out of order, but couldn’t find the faulty component. The 12V contact input on ON was no longer taken into account by the module.
Another second-hand one did the trick, everything is back to normal.
