I never have have on the earlier years (4+3) section T10 yes, but on my truck and 95 C4 I have used standard Typhlon sealant sparingly on the edges of thread

Ive never used sealant and never had a plug leak.

Yes. Permatex liquid hi-temp thread sealant on both. Acts as a barrier against any galvanic thread corrosion as well. I had a fill plug sieze in a different transmission housing one time. No fun getting that out! This is a nice preventative. Certainly not required, but i think it helps 👍🏻
