Re: How much $ to replace LT4 Intake gasket? (Falcon)
I don't know about an LT-4, but I asked the same question of a NAPA-affiliated repair shop for my '91 L-98. When the mechanic consulted his book, his estimate was $600. I did it myself for the cost of the parts - gaskets, and other odds and ends I wanted to replace. The total ran to about $125 - including a new torque wrench. I did it myself. As was said earlier, it really isn't that difficult if you have the proper tools. A shop manual is a big help, too.
Re: How much $ to replace LT4 Intake gasket? (Falcon)
Let's see: remove two plastic covers and lay aside, take out four fuel rail screws and pop off the injection system complete with injectors and lay aside, remove secondary air injection, unplug harness plugs and lay aside, accelerator bracket and a couple of other things, take off manifold and clean surfaces with acetone,.....reinstall. Just time consuming trying to keep everything clean but very easy to do. After reinstalling do not start engine for a couple of days to allow RTV to cure completely before hitting with hot engine oil. :)
