Default Alarm system

I was fiddling around with the 'vette today in the garage and had the drivers side door open. I went around and opened up the passenger side door to clean off the rocker panel ledge and the damned alarm went off, beeping the horn and all.

Took me awhile to get it to shut off. What the heck just happened anyway? And why would it wait to go off until I opened the passenger side door?

Karl

probably, the lock was unlocked just far enough for the door to open, but not enough to tell the alarm that it was unlocked. happens to me every once in a while.

But why the passenger door? I would think that most would-be burglars would break into the drivers' side of the car.

both doors have alarms, as does the rear hatch and maybe more things i haven't set off.

EDIT: reread the whole thread and id say that maybe your drivers side door didn't register as open to the alarm, and the passenger door was thought to be locked so when it opened the alarm went off
