Is the ZF pressure plate 0 balanced? The reason I ask is because I noticed the pressure plate has a yellow paint mark on it. My engine is 0 balanced and so is my flywheel. Do I have to line up the paint mark or is that just for the stock DM?
Hey, I just checked and found that the pressure plate can be indexed in any location. So in other words it will bolt up in any position. Does any one know if the pressure plate has a heavy side? What does the yellow paint mark mean? Is the pressure plate 0 balanced?
Actually, the pressure plate can be screwed on any one of six positions(6 bolts)...no dowel to locate it. The flywheel has the dowel-so only one way to install.
I don't know the answer to your question, but my guess is it is zero balanced as I don't remember any particular weights on it like the stock flywheel had.
Also, I just bolted mine on no particular way and have no balance issues...after 9000 miles.
Its zero balanced. I called Valeo on this before. I forget what the yellow dot means though. BTW, when you order a CF dual friction or a McLeod single disk, you a buying a stock Valeo pull type pressure plate. I use a stock PP with a McLeod dual friction disk and I throw 500+ lbft of torque to it with no problems.
note that since the pp doesn't have dowels, you're at the mercy of slop in the bolt holes. you can tighten it up just a tiny bit off center, and depending how all the tolerances stack up, this can cause a tiny bit of vibration.
Very good point the next balance job I do I will dowel the pessure plate
too the flywheel & balance both together for a 0 balance on my 396. :steering:
