I read through the archives and now I am unsure about what the problem is. This just started this past weekend after the trip to the strip. When shifting from neatral to reverse or drive, I get a click from the drivers side halfshaft. No noises like squealing or clicking while driving, just the single click when shifting. Is this a u-joint problem or the mysterious halfshaft dampener?
I have it jacked up and can hear the click when I move the wheel by hand quickly back and forth.
Did the U-joints today. That was a pain. I had to go to the dealer to have them pressed out. My bench vise wasn't cutting it. The drivers side had the originals and that was were the noise was coming from. I couldn't believe it but one of them had NO needle bearing left in one of the caps. The other side had replacements in there already but I swapped them out too.

I pulled the leafspring and dropped everything else in the way. I did some cleaning after this picture was taken. It was a mess!!
