84 corvette brakes question.
On to the braking question. When I drive and apply the brakes, they seem to drag no grinding its like they are not gripping and it takes a more pressure than my 2002 impala. I have rebuilt the calipers and replace the booster. Found out the master cylinder was bad so I replace that with a Napa auto part. I have bled the system and replace the brake fluid with the synthetic. No air in the line. Any ideas or is this normal and I need to upgrade if there is one? I have to get my plate saying "MONEY PIT" But I have the fever!
:banghead: Thanks EDMGUY [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]
Is your brake fluid in the reservoir staying full?
Also on my '85 during the summer and it seems only with the a/c on the pedal will slowly travel downward when i'm stopped at a light. I believe the fluid is getting past the piston in the master cylinder. Its kinda like internal leaking with no fluid loss. I have a new acdelco one ready to put on this summer.
I'm assuming that the pads and rotors are OK, as well as the proportioning valve. Why did you rebuild the calipers? Were they leaking? Any chance that the pads got saturated with brake fluid or grease? Any chance the brake booster isn't getting enough vacuum? If you feel the pressure required to stop the car is excessive, start troubleshooting. Good Luck :chevy
