I don't have a Helms for a '85, but I think the procedure is the same for TPI L98s. I';m at work and doing this from memory, but I think I have it accurate:

Disconnect the advance wire (single brown wire with a connection next to the brake vacuum booster on the side closest to the distributor).

Check TPS voltage for 0.54V with throttle closed. (If you don't have a special connector with meter wires, use paper clips through the weather pack on the top two wires)

Jumper the ALDL (2 upper right pins as you look at it from inside the car).

Turn ignition on (do not start engine) for 45 seconds. (Retracts the IAC pintle)

While ingition is still on, disconnect the IAC. (So it does not try to control idle).

Turn off ignition.

Remove the jumper from the ALDL.

Start engine (will probably have to use the throttle pedal a little now because of no IAC) and warm to operating temp.

Set idle with TB screw to 450-500.

(While at this point, might as well double check the timing since the advance wire is disconnected anyway).

Turn ignition off.

Reconnect IAC plug.

Reconnect advance wire.

Depress throttle pedal lightly and start engine - let it run for 10-15 seconds. Turn off for a bit.

Restart and the IAC should be set OK.

Recheck TPS voltage for 0.54V with the throttle closed - adjust if necessary.

Done.
