Default A neat coolant leak...

I was doing the pre-vacation oil change and was trying to find the source of my coolant leak around the rad cap on the surge tank.

so... guess what I found... the neck where the rad cap attaches is brass pressed into plastic is leaking!!!!

I was doing all of this at my buddy Travis'. He is the mechanical genius. He suggested, and we applied, some serious epoxy to the neck.

It is running cooler since doing that! apparently, the system is sealed again.

so... when I get back from vaca, I guess I need to call Jeff and order a new one...

****EDIT**** I musta been wore out last nite... the grammer was horrid. sorry. all fixed.

Thats weird. I would have thought it was all plastic. Makes me wonder if my 85 is like that.

Glad you got it fixed. Epoxy is a great thing.

When I was taking my tank off to be painted, I broke the same piece. Then I went to get one from a junk yard, and the first one they showed me was broken also. Seems to be a weak spot.
