It look's like I am going to forget about buying a ZR1 for now and I
have decided to start making the car a little faster. What are the best
cheap mods for a LT1? Are the power programmers any good?
The only thing I have done to the car is muffler eliminators.
Thank's

Re: Best modifications for 95 LT1? (Phil-tha-Rush)
When you mean "faster", do you mean more top speed? Or do you want to make it quicker?? Gears won't make it faster, but will make it quicker, which will get you up to top speed faster..... :jester
I disagree with some of the above posts. I say go with the exhaust first.
I gained 10ft-lbs and 10hp with my Corsa, plus an awesome sounding car. :D
Other cheap and small mods can include Ported MAF housing, open lid airbox, LT4 Knock Module (i needed it after the Corsa). Alone they don't add much, but together is another 15hp or so.
Hey BhamVette, you weren't able to sell yours either, I guess. I saw it in the paper, mine was in there at about the same time, but I couldn't get what i wanted for it, so I'm keeping mine too. I wanted to upgrade to an LT1, but at the same time I didn't want to just give my car away. C4's are valued so low these days. It's agood time to buy one, but not a good time to sell one. Maybe I'll get a ZR1 oneday too. See you around town.
Siveck,
I have had several people looking at the car,but I don't want to let it
go if I don't have a ZR1 picked out to buy.And of course since I am in
the market for a ZR1 the prices have gone back up.
Email me with your number if you want to go cruising sometime. We have
a group of car's-2 Viper's,1 TT lingenfelter that meet up sometime and go
driving. You are more than welcomed to meet us.

I would say leave it alone. Its fast now. I have regretted everyday that I put a wrench to my 95. Its not reliable any more and has spent more time in the shop and garage then me enjoying it. Just my opinion. :nopity
What do you consider cheap? For the quarter mile, go for the gears (not cheap). For ZR-1 performance, do a top end upgrade. If you want to see a nice top end package goto moreperformanceinc.com. It'll give you a good list to up your horsepower, again what is cheap to you maybe expensive to me. Say Hi to Skip if you call.

Are you still having problems with the SC? I thought you had that straightened out last summer?
heres my reccomendations, based on experience i think these work best.
if its a six speed - 4.09 gears
Longtube headers w/ stock exhaust you have w/ eliminators. . Although if $$ is no object go with random tech cats and an aftermarket exhuast.
1.6 roller rockers w new valve springs (go with lt1 replacements not LT4)
ASP underdrive pulleys
Mezziere waterpump
K&N with cut out lid or any aftermarket intake (SLP & breathless)
Id say with those bolt ons youre flying. If you can get a tune and raise the limiter to 6000 you should easily go high 12s @ around 110 mph. On the everyday tires too.
LEAVE THE CAR STOCK!!!!!! Don't waste your money on changing out the gears, converter, maybe exhaust (although I would not even spend the dough on that), definitley would not mess with the cam or heads. GO WITH THE SPRAY!!!! N20 can be put on and taken off so easily with out messing with the originality of the car. Plus, you can take a car with a 100 shot of N20 and it would blow the doors off of a total bolt on car with a cam. Only way to come close to it would be a full bolt on car + heads & cam. If the CID is upped though they could be trouble. My only downside is having to fill the bottle up. Since I drive the car only when I am going to race it or when it is nice out (500 or less miles a year) I have never used it all up in a single night or been caught in a run without it being ready in the past 3 years.
Check out the time..... Had the juice on there for 3 years. No engine or tranny troubles at all. Always run on street radials though.
My 95 is in the shop right now adding 1.6RR and longtube headers w/ an x-pipe. You did not say if you have an A4 or an MN6, but if you have the 6 speed the best thing I have done so far was my Hurst shifter. The shifter can be had for less than $200, and is a great improvement over stock. I have a Power programmer III also, but would recommend you save the $300. The K&N and open air box is a must and can be done for less than $100. The price starts to go up after this, but the 1.6RR sound like a good deal at about $200 + another $200 for installation. Long tube headers if you can do them, $475 and up for a good coated set + $750 for install. :D Good luck, the faster you wanna be the more expensive it gets. :chevy
