Explain Please, I am planning to go with 1.6 RR's & LT4 spring kit.
I have access to a dyno. its right next door to the shoppe that does my work. I was trying to replace a high rpm problem with my car. I thought to change the springs. After i installed the springs (LT4s) i lost 8 rwhp across the board from 3800 to 5700. Even though it didnt solve my problem i figured the lt4 springs are stiffer which reduces power ever so slightly. I had them removed and 30 mins later we went for a quik run on the dyno, and voila, 8rwhp came back to me. it turned out to be a broken pulley, the march balancer was broken and the vibration was giving the opti fits at high rpms.
the LT4 springs were stiffer because of the higher redline 6300, vs 5750, and for longevity. You will always hear shoppes trying to use the lightest spring possible. Now #85 vs #105 (or is it #115? - i forget) doesnt sound like much but its still #20 of extra pressure for nothing.
Go with the 1.6 rrs and use a replacement spring for the LT1, and you will see the gains for the rockers.
Shinobi LT4, thanks for the info, one more question. Are the replacement LT1
springs GM units, if so do you have a part #? I was told that the stock LT1 springs are REAL close to coil bind with 1.6 RR's and a must replace with the
Hot Cam (to be installed next winter). Will these replacement LT1 springs work
with the Hot Cam's .525 lift ? I know that's like 100 question's  but I would like to get this right the 1st time.
Thanks, Denver. :seeya
CRHEINISH - Running a 125 shot. Works great. Been through alot of bottles and many many races. I do not know how to post the pics. I have them just do not know how to do it.
It look's like I am going to forget about buying a ZR1 for now and I
have decided to start making the car a little faster. What are the best
cheap mods for a LT1? Are the power programmers any good?
The only thing I have done to the car is muffler eliminators.
Thank's
bhamvett
Mods on my 94 include (somewhat in order they were added)
K&N w/open lid; TB bypass; 160 stat; Hypertech programming; muffler eliminators; 9-1/2" sawblades on all 4 w/Bridgestone Potenzas 275/40-17 for handling; J55 brake option (13" HD brakes); Corsa catback (elims weren't the best for me); 3.31 Dana 36 gears.
Wish I had done gears sooner but I wanted 3.31 which are not easy to find. The gears have made the biggest difference and I really like the change .... still undecided whether to change the torque converter too (probably will).
Next mods planned: cam & heads BUT
since I just acquired a ZR-1 my "need for speed" may be temporarily satisfied by driving the Z and "cruising" in the 94 which is absolutely very nice in its existing form.
My opinion ~ FWIW ~ decide what kind of money you want to invest in your 95 then just do it. But keep an eye out for a nice Z and keep both. Definitely doubles your fun.
Last thing ~ have we met? maybe at the Covered Bridge last year?

Well Now youve got yourself in a bind. If you're going to go with a hotcam the LT1 springs will not cut it. You will need the LT4s. If you plan on doing it soon then go with the LT4s for the time being. If youre not wiling to sacrifice any power go with the LT1s and switch to LT4s when you do your cam swap. I dont believe theyre very expensive anyhow. Just to further explain my theory that LT4s are too strong for a LT1, they are combined with the Hotcam in the Kit. The hotcam had a .525 I/E lift if im correct. If the LT4 springs can handle that they surely are too much spring for an LT1. As for coil bind with the LT1 springs with the 1.6 rr's, i cant say for sure but i havn't heard anyone putting 1.6s on a stock LT1 and upgrading to a stronger spring. Ive used the 1.6s for the first 4 years since i got the car with Lt1 springs and no issues.
I started mine with the basic free deals, cut air lid/K&N, TB bypass, Flowmaster exhaust. Then I decide time for gears so I went with 3.73 and lost the tranny so in went a performance transmission and a Trans-go shift kit, Yank 2600 stall convertor, MSD Digital 6 ignition and coil and BBK 52 mm TB. Then I went with EM longtube headers removed cats, installed an X-pipe and Magnaflow exhaust. I have LT 4 Hotcam, heads, intake and all the extra goodies sitting on the work bench. I am debating putting them on an LT1 with 70000 miles or save a little more $$$$ and put them on a fully forged 396. All in all these have been great little power adders for not that much money except for changing the exhaust a couple of times. Hope it helps Zach
All those mods sounds nice...once u get used to your car, you'll just want to go faster...
You have to tell yourself how long am i going to keep this car?
Is it worth all the headaces going back and fourth to the shop to get things adjusted, changed...and all that.
If that's what your willing to do and sacrafice. all that time and energy to the car, then go nuts.
Another thing, no buyer will pay the money that you spent on the car, i personally like to buy stock.
So the mods u put on are pure self enjoyment...so go with the budget.
Good luck
