Is there a slick way to eliminate the AIR pump. I've seen folks talking about AIR pump eliminating kits which I'd guess is a free-spinning pulley where the AIR pump was. But, that seems sort of unsophisticated. I suppose to do better than that you'd have to buy a "system" which relocates the accessories. Has anybody been through this and found a good way? :skep:
And, a related question: it looks to me like my tall valve covers will conflict with my a/c compressor on the passenger side. I'm going to have stud girdles so I'll need tall valve covers. Know the answer to that one? :skep:

By the way, 43,700 posts?! OMG
I have a set of tall Moroso covers. No problems. You just have to shoe-horn them in.

I am gonna have a whack at this next week. My personal quest is to eliminate the air pump and NOT use that eliminator pulley kit. I know I can figure something out. Recently I eliminated the A/C and rerouted with a shorter belt and moved the alt back abit. Ran great! I took the air pump off tonight. Head comes off tomorrow for service. Once it goes back on, my goal is to figure this out. Might even install an electric H20 pump to take out the H20 pump pulley out of the equation.
Elimination of the AIR pump makes alot of sence....and there are plenty of kits to do so..(Off Road).
But if you live in a Smog state, what are you to do.....Gosh I know.....leave the AIR pump alone....yep...only asking for problems from the smog ****'s (god I hate that term)......But its true....
Keep our air breathable.....right?????
Oh well...
Just my feelings.....

I totally agree Tony, but speaking for myself, my Vette is a track only car   :D
My pump is starting to growl...bearings? So, I'm debating whether to replace it or eliminate it. The kit seems to be more expensive than replacing the pump. What kind of performance increase, if any, does eliminating the pump give?
