I have a 92 LT1 and it's going to need new plugs. Do you have any tricks to get to the plugs changed out with out getting all bent into a pretzel?
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (grapeknutz)
You will have to unbolt and move the ASR unit out of the way on the driver side. It helps to have some swivels available to reach the plugs at the correct angle. I have MSD wires so I remved the factory plug wire spacers and can do a plug change in 30-40 minutes. it is not that difficult. You might want to remove some of the wire spacers to get at some of the more difficult plugs. :flag :auto:
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (grapeknutz)
I recommend jacking up the driver side, removing the wheel, and then taking off the center and rear wheel well pieces(it sounds like alot, but it takes 10 minutes to do all that). once those are out you can go straight at the plugs with some extensions... the pass side rear 2 pugs are not impossible, they are not impossible, they are NOT impossible...just keep telling yourself that until you get them... good luck.
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (DINO)
Piece of fuel line to put on the plugs so you can remove and replace them one they are losened with a wrench. Much faster than using the wrench all the way. Also keeps you from mashing the threads when putting them back in.
Also, have beer and Band Aids within arms reach. :lolg:

yeah... right on.... go ahead and make my day....
I'm just about doing it myself... how long do you think an unexpierienced guy will work on it??
I mean.. should I go trough it myself or should I have a ( unexpepirienced shop ) have go throug it?

Think of it as BONDING with your Vette. I wouldn't let some shop touch my Vette. I've seen some of their short cut work. I don't know what the guy meant by removing the spacers. Do you think he meant looms? Otherwise, do it yourself.

I've heard of people saying it takes about 8 hours for a first timer. I took a look at my '93 today, the passenger side doesn't really look that bad, but the drivers side
A dealership will charge about $250 for labor, that translates into 3.25 hours.

8 hours?? Yea right
I just looked at mine, and i don't think it would be anything over an hour or two. Nothing that bad... :)
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (85vettelovin)
It is not harder. When I said spacers, I meant wire separators. I wish I could watch someone who has problems change their plugs, so I could see what the fuss is about. The first time takes the longest of course and after that piece of cake. :yesnod:
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (grapeknutz)
Took me about 1.5 hrs. including compression check  last week. First time. I have big hands too. I did employ the fuel line [(plug starter) about 2.5 to 3 in. everyone needs one of these, it takes a while to straighten them out for best results], as well as turning forward, backward, upsidedown and sideways to do it though :banghead: The next best thing I could recomend is get the car up off the ground a foot or so. Ididn't, and and I could barely walk when I was done :nonod: . Hope this helps
Re: Spark plug changes.... What is your tip (bubbaray)
I've found that 3 or 4 Bud Lights make the job a-lot easier. Sometime takes 5 when you get to number 8 plug.
number 8 is a pain,, you need a two year olds hand to get back there. my trick is to use a flexible hose attached to the plug to get it started and then tighten them down with the socket..
I am in the middle of doing my headers and I have cuts all over my hands from playing in all of these places!!!!!!
