Ok, I'm pulling apart my dash and I need to take off the piece with the light switch. There are two 7mm hex head screws that need to come out of the gauge side. I can't seem to get the socket around the scrw to get it out. It's really tight in there. Is there some easy trick I'm missing??? Please help, maybe my lack of sleep and bad day at work is getting to me, but this shouldn't be that hard, insert socket and turn counter-clockwise?? Thanks.
Well, I just happened to take mine off last week.
You are correct. The two on the right are a REAL PITA.
I finally ground down the outside of my socket to get it to go on there.
When I put it back together I used phillips head screws.
I haven't got the slightest idea WHY they used that type of screw in that area with such small access.
I thought mine had been taken apart and put back together by some dumas who used the wrong screws until I read your post.
They are difficult get get out but not impossible with a little tenacity.
Keep trying, you'll get them out. Just don't put the same type back in there.
