I have a 1986 corvette that had a 4+3 and I replaced it with a six speed out of a 1993 and since then the console gets hot. I know that the 4+3 is liquid cooled and the six speed is air cooled. Does anyone know how to put a transmission cooler on a six speed or if you can?
Yes, you can put a cooler on a ZF. ZF Doc sells them (don't remember the cost)> You basically drill and tap two holes in the side of the trans case, which you thread -AN lines into. The lines are then run to a new cooler, however, I would imagine it should be possible to run to the old 4+3 cooler built into your radiator if you still have the stock radiator.
Hmmmm. The 4+3's OD is cooled by a traditional trans cooler in the rad but the T10 section of the box doesn't have a cooler and has separate lubrication from the OD.
How about putting some insulation between the console and the tunnel?

How does the gear oil get to the cooler.? I didn't know the zf had a pump. :D

You're right, it doesn't...the kit includes one...you'll have to forgive me, I'm going on 3 hours of sleep, and just reinstalled a D44 in a friend's car where a number of the bolts in the rear suspension were torqued using the old standby...an impact :nono:
I also did a ZF swap into my '87. The main hassle of the deal was getting a CORRECT list of what parts are actually needed for the swap, though the fiberglass work was a pain as well....it had been a while since I had laid glass on the underside of a piece while lying on my back.
