Okay, let's say I want to head out to the drag strip and run my partially modified Vette. In the old days, you ran stock or modified and they put you in a class, ie. "D-gas" or "F-Stock" depending on your weight to advertised horsepower or weight to cubic inches. That was back in the past. How do they classify you now? Do you have to get a licence? Do I need a roll bar in my convertible? Help me go racing :auto: :steering:
Strick :chevy
It is different for different tracks and also if it is just Test and Tune day because then overybody run everybody.
You nead to ask the track you are going too.
If you goto fast then you will nead a Roll Bar tracks are different there too.
For SCCA C4s are A-Stock as long as you haven't modified anything outside of class rules. Actually.... I wonder if they are now B-Stock since I think a new class was created when the Z06 came out.
scorp508 That is for raod racing right?
He is going to the drag strip and not road racing.
Autocrossing yeah. :) Drag racing is just whatever your drag strip does. Basically you have to find out if your track is NHRA or IHRA sanctioned. Both require a helmet for all cars 13.99 or faster and a rollbar for convertibles going 13.99 seconds or faster. BOTH of them also accept a hardtop as acceptable to allow you to run under the rules of a coupe. With a hardtop you can go as fast as 11.49 before a rollbar for IHRA and as fast as 11.99 before a rollbar for NHRA.
PS how is the car coming a long?
I think it might finally be warm enough to work on it this weekend! WOO HOO!!
Hey Mr Jay,
I think we're headed for the track at Lancaster, SC. My son's auto mechanics professor races a Nova there. I also think they race 1/8 mile :skep: That's not enough distance to shift! (stock gears)
