Considering the other two posts on this subject, can someone relate their story of installing this WITHOUT dropping the Trans, WITHOUT having a lift....etc...????
In other words, one that went in slick and no problems......
I keep getting jacked around at the 2 or 3 local shops who are SUPPOSED to know what they're doing....so far TWO have had NO FRIGGIN CLUE, so I might as well do it myself if it can be done simply in the garage, with ramps and jack stands, without taking a week to do.....
Give us a hand here guys, I know some of you have done it and we would like to hear the real best way to do it..
I installed my Hurst, same install as the Ripper ( I think), with just jack stands and the exhaust intact. It is a tight fit both getting under the car and installing the shifter with the exhaust on, but it can be done. Total time for the install, around 3 hours.
Well..........Here I am...MIDFRIGGIN NIGHT...And I have the same problem with the pin in the gear shaft.......tried everything.....going to miss the Hooter's Lunch tomorrow if this doesn't work out, and I'm looking for an alternative.......What a total PITA!!
Sometimes you're the FIRE HYDRANT, and sometimes you're the DOG.......I guess.
The pin was same same problem with me.. Ends up the tranny was out of the car at one point or another and the pin was upside down.... So I had to pull the tranny to get it in........ But, I had a lift to make that easy as well
This thing only has 18,000 miles on it, so I can't see this having been pulled before, but who knows......either way, I'm on two ramps and two Jack stands with barely enough room to get me under it......this would be more fun if I had a lift and some real tools, like an air hammer or something........guess we'll see what tomorrow brings....
