So i went to the tire store to get a "road balance" or whatever you call it where they apply 800lb's of pressure to the tire while balancing and some other snazzy stuff. Well one tire was off more than 4-5 ounces, so they went to rotate the tire on the wheel .... and yup, they broke the band on my LTPWS sensor.
So... they gave me $75 credit since that's how much they could get a used one for. I will be putting my budnik's on this car this summer, so I won't need the LTPWS sensors because i have been told they won't work.
Well, i don't have the sensor in the car or on that one wheel right now at all, and for some reason i'm not getting a "low or flat tire" light ... ? I know the light works because this winter it kept going off when it was cold and tire pressures lowered.
Anyone know how this system works exactly? Also, anyone know where to get the metal band that holds the sensor in the wheel so I can put it back on? And last thing, why have i been told on here that you can't use the LTPWS sensors on aftermarket wheels, when all it takes is undoing the band and redoing it on a new wheel?

not getting any lights at all.
Thanks for the tip on how they work. I thought perhaps they used a TI RF chip and got power from a transmitter. Pretty cool that they get power from rotation.

the service LTPWS bulb might be out, but i know the "low or flat tire" bulb works fine because it was going off all the time a couple weeks ago when it was about freezing in OK.
