Does anyone out there know how much my 1990 6 speed convertible weighs?
And what exactly is curb weight? I just want to know how much the car weighs standing still. And how much heavier is a convertible compared to a coupe?
According to the specifications that GM filed with the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association, the curb weight (without gasoline) of the coupe was 3255 lbs, the convertible-3301 lbs and the ZR-1 was 3479 lbs.
FYI- the weight on the converible is distributed 1665 lbs-front and 1636 lbs-rear.
(Reference: Form MVMA-90, Page 25, Revised Sept 1989)
Every cars weight is slightly diffrent according to the options. If you want to know exactly how much your particular car weighs, take it to a truck stop and put it on the scales. This weight and your quarter mile ET or trap speet can be used to calculate your aprox. horsepower. Be sure and add the weight of the driver also.
Have a good day,
There should be two stickers on the driver's door. One is for tire loading and pressures the other is the weight sticker. It will have the "wet" weight for the front and rear wheels. This was done at the factory and includes no more than a cople of gallons of gas.
My 92 roadster shows a total GVWR of 3852 lbs.; 1849 front and 2003 rear. The maximum load capacity is shown as 399 lbs.
Try a freeway truck scale station. If they aren't too busy, they should let you drive across the scale platform. Most newer scale stations will have an electronic readout of the weight. They may even work when the station is closed.
