Low coolant light problem solved.
The low coolant light has been coming on and going off for the past several months after taking it to the dealer and corvette shop, I found the problem myself. I took the overflow bottle out and low and behold the tube was clogged up, the little brass piece that fits into the bottle was clogged and the top of the bottle was coverd in gunk, I cleand out the bottle and reinstalled and presto no low coolant light, I wish all problems were this simple.

Your job isn't finished. The "gunk", to which you referred, came from your cooling system. It is time (past time) to flush the system, or the problem will recur.

So, what was the total cost to clean out the gunk?
My $12 relay cost me $147.97! Plus, untold hours of grief from my wife :banghead: .

Oops! :bb There may not be one on an '87. None shown in my manuals. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Maybe someone will confirm this........

Re: Low coolant light problem solved. (Oldman)
In the big scheme of things, what is it's purpose? Just to turn on a light that says Coolant? Would it have anohter purpose also?

It may be a warning of low coolant so that you can correct the situation prior to the coolant temperature light coming on. Not sure.

On the 87 you have:
Low Coolant Module.................Behind I/P, near Fues Block
Low Coolant Sensor..................RH front of engine, on radiator
