Default Car not running

I put new brakes in my 94 today and what should happen but now the car dosen't run or start.I haven't used the car for a couple of weeks so the gas was down low(reserve light on).I put front brakes in yesterday and it ran fine.I washed down the calipers, inner fenders and engine.I took it out for a test ride after I did the brakes and it ran fine.I started it today(monday)and it ran fine.Put the rear brakes in and then tested it,ran fine. After I did the brakes I washed down the engine again and washed the car and left it running as I washed the car,it was running fine.As I pulled up to pull into my driveway it backfired a couple of times and then died.Started up then died.I figured it ran out of gas,so I went to the station and bought 5 gallons. It still didn't start. It cranks but won't start.I didn't check for spark or gas yet.Fuel pump is running,I can hear it when I first turn the key.The motor will turn over but not start,it cranks and then feels like it will start then dosen't.It almost sounds like a bad timing chain.I don't think it's the optispark because it ran fine. The car has 65,000 miles on it.Could something happened because it ran out of gas.Could the optispark have gotten wet,but the motor ran after I washed down the motor.

 Sounds suspiciously like you "washed out" the opti spark.
I guess you don't need me to tell you that washing down these engines is a problem

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Perhaps it will dry out on it's own in a couple of days

No codes!

Where are you in Brooklyn?

I went to school near Park Place, somewhere off of flatbush Avenue.

I just went and tried to start it.I t sounds like the timing is off almost like the timing chain. It will crank and jerk and then crank. When it jerks the lights get dim like it's drawing more power to turn the engine over, almost like it advances for a second.Jack I'm in Marine Park I live right by Kings Plaza..About 10 minutes from Riis Park.

Should I start to take it apart or should I wait for it to dry out.

Went outside this morning and the car started right up.Ran great.I guess the opti did get wet.Now the problem.....I'm going to sell the car in the spring.Should I replace it or see how it runs. Also I am going to put a new belt and plug wires and plugs before I sell itI don't mind the work or the money,it's just finding the time to do it,thats the problem.

Drive it for a week and see if you get any problems from it. I have done this to mine when I first got an LT1 and it ran fine for about 5-6 miles and then crapped out on me again. I did have to replace the optispark to permanently fix the issue.

I drove it yesterday and it ran fine. But the problem was it took a little longer to start up.Cranked more than normal to get it going.Might still be a little wet?I think I will change it just to have peace of mind.I don't want to get stuck.

You can try and use your wife's hair dryer on it to help it dry out. I've heard that this sometimes helps.
