My 1984 was just repainted. The driver side had some bubbling before being repainted(above the radiator hose). It was striped the whole hood and resprayed. The bubbles came back! Could the heat from the upper radiator hose be doing this?
Yes, as well as the possability of oil etc., but probably not from heat but from the actual antifreeze itself. Bad prep is also a reason for paint bubbling.
All the above are exactly right. Plus alot of times body people don't let enough time for body work or stripping materials to cure thus when you seal it up with paint and clear coat you have created a baloon. Take a very sharp small needle I like the diabetic ones best and carfully put a small hole in the bubble it may take a few days to go down but it will release the presure and the paint will not crack and fall off. Again just puncture slightly with the point of the needle.
I had the same problem on my 85. Oil from underneath had blead through the hood and caused the paint to bubble. The guy at the shop said the only cure was replace the hood. Guy
