Just washed the engine in my 93 must have got water in the optispark as it does not want to start. I am in no hurry for the car, my question is will it dry out if I leave it long enough.
it may...if you can, try drying it with a hair dryer or something of that nature to speed up the process...nothing too hot though it is only plastic.
:iagree: If you live in a dry climate set a fan in front of the car and pop the hood. But depending on the opti's mileage it may be time for a new one.
I replaced mine @ 42k and was suprised at the terrible condition of the inside of the unit (oily & rusty). Good Luck :seeya :flag

Ditto for me. I had 50k on mine and it was still running fine. But when I took a look on the inside I was horrified at the water, rust, and dirt all over the inside   I could have been on the hook somewhere on the road! :bb :bb
My advice: bite the bullet and take it (opti-spark) off and replace it and VENT it. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Inevitably ~ you will have to replace the OptiSpark if you plan to keep the Vette. However ~ sometimes the budget can't absorb the hit at the present time, so try this as a stall tactic:
Go to a computer supply store and buy a couple of cans of compressed air. You know ~ the type that you use to clean the boards inside the computer.
Attach the plastic tube, and climb under the front of the engine and work the can close enough to the OptiSpark to insert the plastic straw into one of the vent holes on the bottom of the Opti. The dry air in the can will blow out the moisture and dry out the inside of the OptiSpark unit.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'l give them a try this weekend. The car has only got 7000 miles on it, and the intake manifold gasket is leaking quite bad that is the reason I was washing the engine before I tear it apart to fix it.
