Default LT4 Engine Front Cover Gasket Replacement

I am going to be replacing the water pump and crank dampner. The water pump has been leaking and spilled enough antifreeze onto the dampner to "decay" the rubber that sits inside the outer ring. The engine has a slight vibration and I'm paranoid that the dampner has shifted. Anyway, since I am going through the trouble of taking off the dampner, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and swap out the front cover gasket. I think I'd have to remove the Optispark to take the cover off. How long do the front cover gaskets usually last? If they are trouble-prone (like all the other gaskets on this engine), I might as well change it.

Not sure if I'd change it unless your positive it was leaking, taking off the front cover gets into more work, like be prepared to replace the oil pan gasket, sometimes it tears off with the front cover since the bottom of the cover is RTV-ed to the front of the oil pan gasket. Have to pull the balancer hub also (might be doing this with the new on anyways). Inspect the three seals that are on the cover, crank seal, opti/cam seal, water pump seal, and go from there.

If the timing cover gasket is not leaking, I wouldn't replace it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you pull that front cover you are going to have to pull the oil pan to replace the bottom of the front cover gasket too!
