Re: Got more problems, How do you test the FPR? (sumoboy)
Thanks for the tip.
It appears that I have a bad FPR. Now my question is if I have a bad vacuum line running to the FPR will it cause the same symptoms. It is odd that it is only doing it from time to time. Is it possible when the FPR goes out that it will work some of the time?

A loss of vacuum will allow the FPR to run at max pressure all the time since zero vacuum is associated with wide open throttle.
Could you be a little more specific about what your intermittant problems are, or are they the same problems you had in the first thread? That would help in the diagnosis.

I am having the same probs as the first thread. The car died several times over the past week but always started back up. Now it will start sometimes but is running extremely rich and spitting raw fuel out the exhaust. Going to get an FPR right now. Get back later.

Since in the original thread you were only smoking and loading up on one side, I would suspect one or more faulty injectors on that side. A new FPR will help keep the fuel pressure below max until WOT, but that would only limit the rate that raw fuel is being leaked into cylinder. You'd still have heavy black smoke and raw fuel dripping out of the exhaust pipe.
Unless someone on the forum knows of another way, the only method I know for detecting a leaky injector is to remove them from the intake manifold and test each one individually to find out which ones are leaking. :(

The second time it was coming out of both sides, equally, other than that same symptoms. Sorry forgot about that. I bought a rebuild kit for the FPR last night and got most of it back together but it was getting late and I was getting tired of working on it. Should be able to finish getting it together after work.
