Well since it was a fairly nice day today, I decided to start up the vette. I checked all fluids, and fired her up. Everything was going well untill i saw smoke coming out from under the hood. When i opened the hood i noticed that it seemed to be coming from somewhere underneath the distributor. I'm really not sure as to what the problem may be, or if it's just cus the car has been sitting for about six months now........any ideas?
that's what i'm not sure of......I checked with my flashlight and didn't see any oil or anything that may have been spilt......it looks like it may be a more of a steam as opposed to a burning smoke. Then again i'm not 100% positive.
There are alot of wires in this area, and I have found that mice love to build nests under the distributer and chew on wires. When I uncovered mine this year the intake was full of dog food, along with under the dash where they ate my vacume lines. And yes they chewed the wires on my distributer. The moth ball idea in the car and under the hood does not work. Just an idea to check.
Did it smell like burning oil, burning electrical insulation or evaporating coolant??
Fire it up again and wait to see if you can identify it or if it ceases. If condensation it will evaporate; if something serious you'll find the source.

thanx for the ideas guys, i'll check tomorrow when i get back from work......hopefully i'll have time to insure it again, i can't wait to drive it.
Hopefully if it was mice, you smell burning flesh. God I hate those critters. :U
Dad had a 93 camaro and the mice littered the area between the roof lining and the hard top with corn. Everytime he would take out hard or stop hard you would hear the corn rolling around.
We tried the cat thing, but that/they were short lived when he saw on laying on a car. ;)
Good luck hope its not something serious.
