Does the LT1 edit (actually the LT4 version) also provide scan code information or do you still need a separate scanner to pull error codes and to reset?
LT1 Edit is used just for reading/changing/programming the PCM flash data.
You'll need a data logging program (like Alex Pepers OBD2 ... http://www.obd-2.com , AutoTap v2... http://www.autotap.com , or EFI Live v5 ... http://www.starrperformance.com ). EFI Live v5 is LS1 specific but will log nearly all the parameters that OBD2 and AutoTap will (so far I've only found that Knock Counts and Ignition Retard don't log correctly).
Alex Pepers program works great but isn't as pretty as EFI Live. All of these programs can log and clear DTCs.
Dan, I have DIACOM but it seems it only views the vehicles performance rather then allow you to change programming. I've been thinking of getting LT1 Edit, does it install on a laptop like DIACOM and do I want the normal version or the Expert Version?

Yes it installs on a laptop and for complete tuning capability you want the "expert" version. Also, the OBDI version of LT1 Edit comes with a software logging package
